Settings

Open Settings from the button at the right side of the main Locus toolbar. The panel separates global preferences from current-project UI state and shows workspace-specific controls for the active workspace.

Global preferences

Global settings follow the current Editor user across projects:

• Appearance
• Notes body font size, word wrapping, tree density, and default rich-reference presentation
• Documents source and Read Mode font sizes, source wrapping, Preview visibility, and Preview split ratio
• collaboration identity and Show Source Control Status presentation preference

Reset Global UI restores these presentation defaults across projects. It does not delete Notes, Pins, Documents, or recovery data.

Notes settings

Notes settings include:

• font size from 8 to 32
• Compact or Comfortable tree density
• Readable or Source editing presentation
• word wrapping
• restoring the last Note and splitters
• auto-expanding folders
• focusing the body after title rename
• empty-state helpers
• Active Note information, also toggled with Ctrl+Shift+I

These controls change presentation and workflow state, not the authoritative Note content.

Pins presentation

Pins preferences include title visibility, Show Filtered Pins Only, occlusion behavior, nearby-title distance, maximum marker height, visual opacity and saturation controls, and placement animation. Occlusion modes include Scene Depth and Line of Sight. The detailed viewport controls are also available under Editor Preferences > Plugins > Locus.

Pin presentation preferences are personal. They do not write to a map or change the semantic content of .locuspin files.

Personal Pin Presets belong to the current user and project. A preset contains only a Pin Type and tags and affects future creation; it does not modify existing Pins.

Project UI state

Locus remembers per-user, per-project context such as the active workspace, filters, expanded folders, last selections, navigation state, workspace splitters, and Pins viewport presentation.

Reset Project UI clears this personal context for the current user and project. It is distinct from Reset Global UI and does not delete user-created content.

Source Control presentation

Show Source Control Status controls compact indicators on Shared Notes, Shared Pins, and Documents when a provider is configured. It is a global personal presentation preference: it does not change provider behavior, hide required safety feedback, or alter action eligibility. Private content never receives an indicator. With no provider configured, Locus omits source-control-specific status, guidance, tooltips, and actions regardless of this preference.

Maintenance actions

The current workspace exposes a targeted discovery action such as rebuilding Notes, refreshing Pin discovery, or refreshing Documents. Use it after external file changes when the UI has not caught up.

MCP Integration

MCP is configured separately in Editor Preferences > Plugins > Locus > MCP Integration. It is disabled by default. When enabled, it lets one compatible client on the same machine work with the supported Locus MCP tools while Unreal Editor is open.

The Client Format menu provides OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, and Generic Streamable HTTP MCP presets over the same local server. Copy Configuration produces the current format with its local credential; treat that copied text as sensitive.

Use Allow Changes only when you want that client to make supported Locus changes. Allow Private Notes and Pins is a separate permission and remains off by default. See MCP Integration for connection, privacy, and troubleshooting guidance.

Safety boundaries

Recovery, conflict detection, atomic writes, source-control writability checks, fixed storage ownership, and permanent-deletion confirmation cannot be disabled through Settings. Presentation choices never bypass these safeguards.
